Setlist - June 3, 1999
Birchmere
Transcribed by: Dave Pasternak
I saw the show at The Birchmere last night - I've been seeing Johnny for
over 20 years now and some nights are great and some nights he's in a
bad mood and/or bad voice and the show stinks. The last time I saw him
(when he started playing with the Jukes again before the acoustic tour)
his voice was a little shakey. Last night everything worked - Johnny
was in a good mood, the band was cooking, his voice was the best I've
heard it in a long, long time, the song selection was great (anytime he
goes heavy on 'Hearts of Stone' and 'Better Days' is fine with me). An
excellent show. I didn't write the set list down as they played so this
is out of sequence but here's what they played:
- It Must Be Love (Etta James)
- All I Needed Was You
- Talk To Me
- Without Love
- Do Right Woman (Aretha Franklin)
- This Time Baby's Gone For Good
- All The Way Home
- Cryin' (Roy Orbison, performed by Bobby Bandiera solo)
- All Night Long
- Shake It Down / Dixie Chicken (Little Feat)
- You Don't Know Like I Know (Sam and Dave)
- Love Is A Sacrifice
- Back In The USA (Chuck Berry) / Workin' Too Hard
- Tired Skin (Alejandro Escovedo)
- The Fever
- I Don't Want To Go Home
- King of The Night
- Trapped Again (this was absolutely scorching, one of the best versions
I've ever heard)
- It's Been A Long Time
- Heartbreak (It's Hurtin' Me) (Little Willie John)
- Good Times (Bobby and Johnny only - Sam Cooke cover)
- Goodnight My Love
- Hearts of Stone (Bobby and Johnny only)
